Runeasi partners with Belgium Red Lions Hockey Team

Reigning World and Olympic Hockey Champions unleash new high-tech weapon To Extend their world title

The Red Lions are using Runeasi, a new Belgian technology to injury-proof their players in their run-up to the hockey World Cup in January. The technology was developed at KU Leuven and uses a smart belt. The Olympic Champions use the movement quality data it provides to monitor their players more precisely. Red Lions Antoine Kina and Nicolas Pocelet integrated Runeasi in their recent rehab process. “We have been using the Runeasi wearable product during rehab and training of the Red Lions and have found it extremely beneficial in identifying imbalances in athletes. This has helped us identify injury risks and allows us to improve our prevention protocols accordingly” says Mick Beunen, Physical coach of the Red Lions.

Adam Commens, High performance director of the Red Lions, states the importance of the partnership: “We are very pleased to partner with Runeasi. We already have seen many use cases in our day-to-day training environment for athletes returning from injury or in movement analysis. In preparation for the World Cup we can’t leave any stone unturned, and Runeasi is one of the tools we use to ensure our athletes have an injury free period before this major event”.

Kurt Schütte, the CEO of Runeasi agrees: “We believe Runeasi provides the Red Lions those extra percentage points that can help them extend their World Title. Runeasi helps to identify and improve each player’s weakest links. Our Runeasi AI-technology measures what’s invisible to the naked eye. For example, Runeasi picks up when a player runs with poor stability, something that has been scientifically linked to fatigue and an increased risk for injury. Medical staff can now see these objective insights of their athletes in real-time and immediately act on them with personalized exercises. Recently we’ve received global interest, with physios and athletic trainers wanting to work more objectively with their recreational athletes.
